Thursday 9th March is national University Mental Health Day. University Mental Health Day brings together the university community to make mental health a university-wide priority.

To mark the occasion, the University of South Wales is providing a series of events and resources focusing on mental health and wellbeing for students to get involved with.

Wellbeing events

The Wellbeing Service has worked in partnership with a number of organisations to provide a variety of events to help students make new friends, learn new skills and feel more capable of managing their mental health and wellbeing. The events to be delivered include:

BRIT Challenge 2023

The BRIT Challenge (23 January - 23 March 2023) is an inclusive feel-good fundraiser to improve mental health and fitness. It is designed to be completed by individuals working as a team to cover each year's distance (2023 will be 2,023 miles). You can do this in a number of ways, such as hand-cycling, cycling, wheelchair pushing, swimming, walking, jogging, running, rowing, or paddling (canoeing, kayaking or paddle-boarding).

Togetherall

Togetherall is a digital well-being platform where people support each other anonymously to improve mental health and wellbeing. Togetherall is free for all USW students and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

All USW students have access to free online mental health and wellbeing support with Togetherall. To join, visit Togetherall.com.

Competition – prizes to be won!

The Wellbeing Service is running a prize draw for University Mental Health Day. We’re asking students to share their top self-care tip for good mental health.

To take part, students can share their self-care tip by replying to @unisouthwales Instagram story or by emailing [email protected] with the subject line, ‘UMHD Competition’. Make sure you include your student ID number.

Entrants will have a chance to win a bundle of prizes that include: a Bluetooth sleep mask, positivity planner, sleep candles, vegan cookies, herbal teas, USW branded merchandise and more!
